LGBT Ireland is a national organisation which runs a number of frontline services (National LGBT Helpline; Transgender Family Support Line; a range of peer support groups). Through its frontline work, LGBT Ireland is well placed in understanding the needs and issues facing LGBT people, their friends and families. At the LGBTQ+ Awareness Training participants will have an opportunity to:
-
- Understand more about ‘sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’
- Understand the challenges many LGBTQ+ people face
- Understand the LGBTQ+ terminology
- Be presented with recent Irish research on Being LGBTQI+ in Ireland
- Become more aware of older LGBT+ people, LGBTI+ Travellers, LGBTI+ refugees
- Become familiar with existing support services
- Learn practical ways to help make your organisation or community more inclusive
- Let’s learn from one another, bridge the gaps, and build a kinder, more inclusive DLR Community.
The workshops are funded through the Dormant Account Fund, and are a collaboration between DLR PPN and dlr County Council.
