As part of the review, a number of changes to existing speed limits are being proposed. These include introducing 30 km/h speed limit zones at certain schools (listed below) during specified periods and changing speed limits associated with the New Glenamuck District Road Scheme, Glenamuck Road and Kilternan Village.

This review is being carried out in accordance with Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), as amended, the Department of Transport’s Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits in Ireland, and Department of Transport Circular RW21 of 2025 on the implementation of lower speed limits in built-up and urban areas.

The draft Urban Speed Limit Bye-Laws and maps can be viewed from Monday 10 August 2026 to Friday 11 September 2026 during normal office hours 9am – 5pm at:
