PPN Summer School 2026 Report and Resources

The PPN Summer School 2026 was delivered through a successful collaboration between Dublin City University (DCU) and the four Dublin Public Participation Networks (PPNs): Dublin City PPN, Fingal PPN, South Dublin PPN, and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown PPN. The programme took place from 25–28 May 2026 and provided a valuable learning and networking opportunity for community representatives, volunteers, and PPN members from across Dublin.

The Summer School was designed to strengthen the capacity of community members to engage effectively in local decision-making processes, community development initiatives, and public participation structures. Through a series of workshops and interactive learning sessions, participants explored key topics related to community leadership, advocacy, governance, communication, and civic engagement.

The programme combined both online and in-person delivery methods, making the sessions accessible to a broad range of participants. Expert facilitators and guest speakers shared practical knowledge and insights, while participants were encouraged to contribute their own experiences and perspectives. This collaborative approach created a supportive learning environment that fostered discussion, peer learning, and the exchange of best practices between community groups and representatives.

Throughout the week, attendees developed new skills and increased their understanding of the role of Public Participation Networks in supporting active citizenship and community representation. The sessions also provided opportunities for participants to build connections with fellow community leaders and strengthen relationships across the Dublin PPN network.

The Summer School concluded with a networking and celebration event, where participants reflected on their learning and achievements throughout the programme. Certificates of participation were presented in recognition of their commitment and engagement. The event highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration between community organisations, local authorities, and educational institutions in supporting inclusive and effective public participation.

Overall, the PPN Summer School 2026 was a highly successful initiative that enhanced participant knowledge, encouraged cross-sector collaboration, and reinforced the value of community-led engagement. The partnership between DCU and the Dublin PPNs demonstrated a shared commitment to empowering communities and supporting active citizenship across the region.
